  • Membrane Switch Dome Design Optimization Case Study
This case study presents a membrane switch dome design optimization project. The customer initially proposed one shared dome for three keys, but the large common dome created risks of insufficient support, long-term collapse, inconsistent tactile feedback, and difficult yield control. Through DFM review, the KeyPadOne engineering team optimized the design into three independent key domes, improving structural stability, pressing consistency, production controllability, and long-term reliability.

  • The “Invisible Killer” of Membrane Switch Reliability: Why Adhesive Dome Holders Cause Key Failure—and How to Eliminate the Problem
The "dead key" problem in membrane switches is often caused by adhesive migration from an adhesive Dome Holder. When the adhesive enters the dome cavity and blocks the vent channel, it can create a negative-pressure lock that prevents the metal dome from returning normally. This article explains the failure mechanism in depth and introduces adhesive-free Dome Holders, perimeter bonding, and adhesive-free zones to improve long-term membrane switch reliability.
